Happy Friday….Happy Friday….Happy Friday!
I hope you have some fun planned for this weekend. Let’s get to it on this blog posting and then you can head outdoors and enjoy the last rays of summer.
Bev just picked up some extra work. She is a merchandiser in grocery stores, and another company contacted her and asked if she wanted to merchandise their product in addition to the product she already does. She said yes, of course, because it means more money and like everyone else in the bottom 80% we always need money for emergencies.
This of course means more hours for her, an increase of about five hours per week, maybe a little more, and that means she is going to be stretched to the limit.
So we sat down last night and discussed me taking over more of the household chores for her so she doesn’t have to face them when she gets home. Yes, I work full-time writing, but I write at home, and it is not too difficult for me to do laundry or sweeping or the dishes as breaks from my writing. I suspect my biggest chore will be keeping the chickens happy, but that’s a story for another posting.
My dad is flipflopping in his grave right now because the chores I’m going to do were, in his words, a woman’s job. I am damn certain I never saw my dad vacuum in the twenty years I knew him, and I know for a fact he never did the laundry.
Well, my dad was from a different era. We do not look at chores around our home as befitting a woman or befitting a man. We are partners in this living gig and as such we share equally the good, the bad and the mundane. I am very grateful to Bev for taking on a little extra so we can have a little extra, and she is grateful to me for taking on the extra chores and that, my friends, is what a partnership is all about.
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by. Make sure you give a hug to your significant other.
Before I leave, I want to give a shout out to a couple friends of mine, and ask you to give them a visit. The first is Sha, or Bravewarrior if you will, and you can find her website here.
The other is Carol and if you are interested in astrology at all then visit her site here.

I love you even more Bill and you seriously are a wonderful man. Love that you are helping Bev around the house more and you both are really the perfect couple. Enjoy your holiday weekend now!! 🙂

Aww, thanks Janine! I just happen to think that a partnership means sharing the load….I appreciate you very much young lady. Have a great weekend!

Thanx for the shout out, Bill. I still need to get to my end of the bargain. Oh, where does the time go?
Good for you in helping out with the chores. It’s easy and convenient to do laundry when you work from home. It sort of does itself while you’re at the computer. When the dryer yells at you, the break is usually a welcome one. Working from home definitely has it’s bennies.
Enjoy your weekend and I hope you give yourself the day off on Monday. I know you normally don’t, but as you say – try something different!

Oh Sha, that would be way too radical for me. LOL Bev and I will both be working Monday, but I can promise no work this weekend. That will have to do. 🙂 Have a great weekend my dear, and thank you.

Hi Bill
As my wife was still teaching while I was retired, I too am more than familiar with vacuuming, doing the dishes, making the bed, well you get the idea. I think that’s why they call it a partnership. We are in Chicago this long weekend to visit or grand daughter now one month old. Then off to the farm towards then end of the month or early October at the latest. Yes life is good on this end. Enjoy the weekend my friend.

Larry, I am just damn jealous about that farm. You keep waving it in front of me and making me squirm. 🙂
have a great weekend buddy!

Me again Bill:
I will get some pictures and a longer note off to you in the not to distant future regards the farm and nearby area. Yes I have found my Mayberry. Again have a great weekend.

Larry, I would love to see pictures of your farm…for sure send some, or put them on Facebook so I can see them…thanks!

Man is definitely getting sensitive by each generation. I am happy that you offered your services at home since it is just a break as compared to Bev.
Happy Friday!

Ruchira, Bev and I are partners and she would do the same for me…that’s the way it should be my friend. Thanks for your thoughts.

It takes a real man to do a woman’s work. 🙂
Billybuc said:
Well thank you Audrey! Partnerships require give and take, do they not? 🙂 Love, bill

You are definitely a great man, and a wonderful partner for Bev! It’s great that you two help each other in life, and that you are willing to go the extra mile to be helpful when her time at home is reduced.
Have a great weekend, Bill, and congrats to Bev for getting those extra hours!
Billybuc said:
Awww, thanks Kathryn! Great I am not, but loving I am. 🙂 I really do appreciate you my friend, and I hope happiness finds you soon because you definitely deserve it.
Enjoy your weekend and as always, thank you!

I hope you will soon write a post on how you get on. I still haven’t been able to juggle housework, family and writing to the benefit of both. Please let me know your secret. 🙂
Billybuc said:
Shoot Phoenix….no secret. It sure helps to have a mate who believes in sharing the load and helping each other. Bev and I work well as a team and we are always picking each other up. 🙂 Thank you for stopping by and if I ever do figure out “the secret” I’ll let you know.

Hi Bill,
Don’t get me wrong. My husband works two job during the week and helps with the housework and gardening at the weekend. But Monday-Friday, the majority of it falls to me. I like being organized, but for some reason the household refuses to be tamed. Seems like something always comes up and throws my scheduling out the window. I guess it’s just part and parcel of family life. Mind you, the boy starts college today so that’s one less person throwing a monkey wrench into the works. lol

Awwww, you guys are awesome! That is absolutely what a good relationship is all about – give and take, and sharing. I thank my lucky stars every day that I have a husband who doesn’t mind doing the dishes when it’s his turn or vacuuming if I’m running out of time – which is once in a blue moon, if people come over, etc. I know of a lot of women who had to do all the chores and ended up being resentful because of it. Tell me, how is that GOOD for your relationship? No thanks. Loved this post today!
Billybuc said:
Thanks Mel and I hope you are having a great week so far. I have never understood this division of work according to sexes….a partnership is a partnership is a partnership….gee, I wonder why the divorce rate is over 50% in our country? 🙂

Life gets us one way or another Bill. Sharing is the way to go and it is wonderful that you and Bev are on that plane. Husband, wife, garbage, dishes…we’re all in this together 😉 Hope you had a great weekend.
